Neal Bishop has branded claims that he told Barnet boss Ian Hendon he was joining Notts County via a text message as rubbish.

Bishop was considering an offer from Barnet to stay at Underhill for another twelve months when the magpies offered the 27 year old a two year contract at Meadow Lane.

Hendon was on holiday expecting Bishop to sign for the North London outfit, but instead he signed a pre-contract deal with Notts County. Talk of sending a text to tell the manager the news has been blasted by the player.

Bishop told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I was thinking of staying because Ian Hendon is a top bloke and a really good manager.

"But as soon as I met the manager (Ian McParland) and Dave (Kevan) I got a good feeling for Notts, I knew it was the right club for me.

"It's a load of nonsense I told Ian in a text, I spoke to him and told him I was coming to Notts. He said he understood and told me I'm joining a good club. He knows because he was captain.

"I sent him a text asking him to ring me because I couldn't get hold of him on his holiday. It's been interpreted wrongly and it's disappointing.”
