Paul Peschisolido has told his Burton defence to sharpen up after the Brewers slipped to defeat at a revitalised Crewe.

Albion have surpassed all expectations in their first season in the Football League but Peschisolido reckons he has spotted an Achilles heel after their 2-1 defeat at Gresty Road.

"We are okay against teams who battle but teams who get the ball down, pass it and run at us with pace give us problems," Peschisolido told the Derby Evening Telegraph.

"Crewe are one of those and we need to show more resilience against these teams. We were sloppy in defence in the first half and they looked as if they were going to score every time they came at us.

"I know there was a strong wind but we were letting balls bounce on the edge of our box and not dealing with them.

"The wind didn't seem to bother Crewe. They were getting six or seven men behind the ball, blocking shots and putting their bodies on the line to stop us and that's what we need to be doing more of.

"We re-grouped and played much better in the second half. We attacked and looked more of a threat – but Crewe probably still looked more dangerous than us when they got forward.”
