Burton centre-half Darren Stride will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing calf surgery.

Stride, the club captain and record appearance holder, has not played since the 4-1 home defeat by Notts County at the end of December. It leaves Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido short of defensive options as the club are still trying to discover the extent of Richard Jackson's calf injury, with the full-back likely to be sidelined for at least another fortnight.

"We don't know what the problem is. We have done every sort of test going to try to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully, he will be all right after a bit of rest," said the Canadian.

Peschisolido has been trying to sign former Chester defender Shaun Kelly.
