Bury boss Alan Knill wants his side to continue with their unheralded assault on promotion after a vital 2-1 triumph at Accrington.
The Shakers are back in the play-off zone as
Michael Jones and
Brian Barry-Murphy secured back-to-back victories. Stanley were awarded two penalties, but keeper Wayne Brown saved Paul Mullin’s on the stroke of half time before Jamie Clarke netted from the spot after the break to ensure an uncomfortable end for Bury, who held on.
“You have to come to places like this and grind out a result and you have got to do it week in week out,” said Knill. “We had a poor October but we have taken nine points out of 12 in November and we have done it quietly. Nobody has noticed us and long may it continue. It is fantastic for the players and the supporters and I think we fully deserved the win.”
Sent to the stands
Stanley boss John Coleman was sent to the stands by referee Lee Probert but he chose to focus on the game in his post-match analysis. “I kicked a ball in frustration but I don't want to comment too much about it as I will get into trouble,” he said.
"We lost the game in a ten-minute spell where we defended poorly and we got punished. We didn't play like I know we can and we have got to play better. I do not think they are better than us but they got the three points. The penalty miss at half time proved crucial as I think we would have gone on and won the game. It was a decent save by the keeper.”
