SOUTHEND UNITED v YEOVIL TOWN
The top two clash at Roots Hall for what is sure to be a very tense 90 minutes of end-to-end action. Both sides have stuttered recently and the Shrimpers have lost two of their last three league games. But Southend know that a win here would virtually seal promotion for them and put one hand on the title at the expense of the long-time leaders.
It is no coincidence that the league's top two scorers are on show here with only one goal separating Phil Jevons and Freddy Eastwood. However, Yeovil have scored 20 goals more than Southend but they are brittle on the road.
They have slumped to ten defeats and Gary Johnson knows that they can't afford to make it 11 on this occasion. If Adam Barrett and Spencer Prior can shackle Jevons then it could be a long afternoon for the Glovers and their huge travelling support.
CLARKY'S VERDICT: Southend will outmuscle Yeovil and clinch three crucial points and put one foot in League One for next season.
SCUNTHORPE UNITED v BRISTOL ROVERS
Scunthorpe seem to have been having a blip since Christmas but they have somehow hung in there and a win here will guarantee them moving into second position. Brian Laws' men had such a good run of form prior to the festive period that they have been able to hang on despite not producing the football they are capable of.
Peter Beagrie and Steve Torpey keep producing the goods up front but if Beagrie is showing signs of fatigue then Laws can now bring on the talented Wayne Corden in his place. Iron centre half Andy Crosby played under Pirates manager Ian Atkins at Oxford and will want to prove a point and snuff out the twin threat of Richard Walker and Junior Agogo.
They might be stuck in mid-table with nothing to play for but Rovers have already claimed a staggering 21 draws this season and are notoriously hard to beat. Scunthorpe's goals have dried up lately but they won't want a repeat of last week's goalless draw at Grimsby.
CLARKY'S VERDICT: I think it will go right to the wire for Scunthorpe and I reckon Rovers will grind out a point.
LINCOLN CITY v DARLINGTON
This is another huge game with both teams not yet sure of their place in the play-offs. The Quakers have been delighted to welcome back Clyde Wijnhard in recent weeks and his two-goal salvo gave them all three points against Rushden last week.
However, they are only two points clear of Northampton in the battle for the final place but a win at Sincil Bank would take them level on points with the Imps.
Ironically, Lincoln lost by a solitary goal at Northampton last week and haven't managed to tie down top scorer Simon Yeo to a new contract as yet. But his partnership with Francis Green is vital as Keith Alexander's men have recovered from a sticky start to the campaign and bulldozed teams once again.
CLARKY'S VERDICT: Both teams have had a Jekyll and Hyde season but I take Darlington to spring a surprise and move level on points with Lincoln.
