Steve Cotterill was in buoyant mood after his return to management began in impressive fashion with Notts County's 5-0 win over Hereford at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies' fourth manager of the season was handed the perfect start to his tenure as Craig Westcarr`s hat-trick and two further strikes from Luke Rodgers helped County cruise past nine-man Hereford.

"It's been brilliant to be given the opportunity to come to this club and I've loved every minute since I stepped through that door last week," said Cotterill.

"I felt at half-time the players were working too hard to impress me. They looked anxious and I'm to blame for that. But I told them to get back to what they've been doing all season and they came out and showed that by scoring four times in the second half.

"Although we hit five, it's three points that are important to us at the moment and we'll let our goal difference take care of itself."
