Michael O'Connor's agent has revealed that an unnamed Championship club is interested in signing the Crewe midfielder.

Alex boss Gudjon Thordarson is willing to let the 21-year-old leave for the right price and he has been linked with a return to Lincoln, where he spent a spell on loan last season. Scottish Premier League outfit Hibernian had also shown an interest before Mixu Paatelainen left his role as manager and now a Championship side have entered the race.

"There has been interest from a Championship club, although I'm not going to name them," O'Connor's agent Gerry Carlile told the Sentinel.

"As far as I'm aware there hasn't been a bid but there will be a certain level of interest because he's played nearly 100 senior games, he's nearly 6ft 1in and he's a box-to-box midfielder.

"These sort of players aren't everywhere and a lot of clubs are looking for players with that balance of youth and experience and Michael has that."
