Gillingham midfielder Andrew Crofts is in talks with the club over a settlement for the rest of his contract.

The 24-year-old is back at Priestfield after the end of a loan spell at Peterborough but the club are hoping to reach an agreement to see him end his time with the club ahead of schedule.

The Wales international is out of contract at the end of the season but seems unlikely to be able to force his way back into the first-team picture.

Manager Mark Stimson said: "The chairman put something across to Andrew regarding a settlement, it couldn't be matched by him, some difficulties there, but they have another meeting and hopefully something can be sorted out there so he can move on and we can move on.

"He's a great lad, possibly too nice in my eyes. He's always on time and never causes you a problem, so he won't disrupt it at all because he's a genuine kid."
