Shrewsbury midfielder Ben Davies is still mulling over the two-year contract offered to him in the wake of the League Two play-off final defeat to Gillingham.

Manager Paul Simpson has reportedly given a deadline of Tuesday for Davies, and five other players, to reach a decision. But the 28-year-old's ambition to play at a higher level, along with interest from other clubs, has given him plenty to think about.

Davies' football consultant Ian Taylor told the Shropshire Star: "I think Ben is still considering his options at the minute."

He added: "The main thing for Ben is not the money, it's whether he wants to play in League Two for another season.

"He wants to play at the highest level he can but there's nothing definite that has been decided at the moment."
