Shrewsbury goalkeeper Luke Daniels has backed the club to bounce back from their play-off heartache - even though he is unlikely to be part of the squad next season.

Daniels, who made three fine saves in the 1-0 Wembley defeat to Gillingham, has spent a successful season on loan at the Prostar Stadium but is set to return to parent club West Brom for pre-season training.

And he said: "There's more than enough in that dressing room to get promoted. Unfortunately it hasn't happened this year but if they can keep the squad together I'm confident they will challenge next year."

He added: "Shrewsbury have given me an opportunity to play and I'm gutted for everybody at the club that we've not managed to get into League One."

On his own future, the 21-year-old added: "I'm going to have a good rest over the summer, go back to West Brom and see what happens. If there's another loan deal, then that's something I would look at."
