Crawley Town have received a boost today with the news that defender Claude Davis has penned a new 18-month contract with the current League Two leaders.

The vastly experienced Jamaican international has decided that his immediate future remains at the Broadfield Stadium, after initially signing a short-term deal back in September.

The 32-year-old is part of one of the meanest defences in the division, with Crawley conceding just 29 goals so far this campaign.

Red Devils' boss Steve Evans said: "We are absolutely delighted to have big Claude with us for the next 18 months."

Davis seems to have found his feet playing in England's fourth tier after spells with a host of higher clubs in his career thus far, including Preston North End, Derby County and Crystal Palace.

An increased set of first-team chances seems to have benefited the 6 ft 2 enforcer, who has made a total of 17 appearances for this season.
