Darren Ferguson believes his Peterborough side can "taste promotion" after their 1-0 victory over Stockport on Saturday.

Craig Mackail-Smith's strike kept Posh four points clear of MK Dons and, although Roberto Di Matteo's side have a game in hand, Ferguson is delighted that their fate is in their own hands.

"Promotion is getting closer by the game and we can taste it now," the manager told the Evening Telegraph.

"I have always felt it would go down to the last weekend and I am convinced that will be the case, but our destiny is in our own hands and you can't ask for more than that.

"Two more performances like this (Stockport) one will see us home and dry."
