Gillingham’s play-off hopes have been given a boost with the news that Charlton midfielder Josh Wright has been given permission to continue his loan spell at Priestfield.

Saturday's trip to Rochdale looked set to be his final game but now has the chance of guiding Gillingham to Wembley and promotion back to League One.

"Josh is a good footballer. I coached him at my soccer school when he was eight, so I've known him for a very long time,” said Gillingham manager Mark Stimson.

“He’s been unfortunate not to get a run in the team at Charlton and he'll give us composure on the ball. He's a thinker and has a good range of passing..."

Switching to the bottom end of League Two and Notts County keeper Kevin Pilkington has described the Magpies current position of 20th as ‘embarrassing.’

County have won only won ten league games all season and picked up just 44 points, ahead of their final game at Wycombe Wanderers and are on a run of nine defeats in their last 12 league games.

Pilkington said: "I'm disappointed with the season as a whole, it's been very poor. "We had high expectations in the summer but we haven't lived up to them. "Everyone is disappointed and embarrassed as well. "We started off well at home, I thought we might have finally cracked it but obviously we haven't," "I don't know why that is, I haven't got a clue. "We should be winning at least half of our games at home. "I know it's a cliché, but we need to make Meadow Lane a fortress next season..."
Finally, Lewis Montrose has targeted promotion as his goal next season after joining Chesterfield on a permanent basis.

The midfielder has spent the past two months on loan at Chesterfield from Wigan Athletic and has made 11 appearances before penning a two-year deal at Saltergate. "I am delighted to be joining Chesterfield on a long-term basis as I have really enjoyed being with the club on loan and everyone has made me so welcome," Montrose told the club's official website. "I am looking forward to progressing my career with the Spireites and want to play my part in seeing us get promoted next season."
