Wycombe have captured forward Joel Grant on a free transfer from Crewe, beating off competition from rival clubs in the process.

The 23-year-old, who can play on the wing or in attack, has signed a two-year deal at Adams Park having been released by the Alex.

Grant is no stranger to Chairboys boss Gary Waddock, who signed him as part of his promotion-winning side at Aldershot in 2007/08.

Grant told the club's official website: "I had a few options but I feel Wycombe are the right club for me. The manager's style of play suits mine and he gives me a freedom to express myself.

"I'm a player who likes to excite the crowd, use my skills and entertain, but I also want to show a more consistent side to my game and get goals and assists in the process."

Waddock added: "I like his style of play and I'm looking forward to watching him next season. He'll bring a different dimension to the team and with JP (Jon-Paul Pittman) leaving the club, it was important we brought some pace to the frontline."
