Exeter boss Paul Tisdale is hoping to complete consecutive promotions after last year’s rise from the Blue Square Premier League but knows he won’t be able to count on the old pal’s act.
The Grecians manager was a teammate of Rotherham boss Mark Robins during 1998-99 when they were both at Panionos in Greece but Tisdale isn’t expecting a welcome mat at the Don Valley Stadium.
"This is professional sport and there are no favours to be had," said Tisdale. "There is respect between us and both teams will want to win the game.
"I haven't spoken to him in the last couple of weeks because we knew we were playing each other on the last day of the season.
"You tend to keep your distance before a game like this but I am looking forward to seeing him on the day. I played with him for a season in Athens and when you go abroad you get a bit closer to your teammates than you do at home.
"I presume they will be wanting to reflect on the season and say that without the points deficit they would have finished in the top three," said Tisdale.
"There is also personal pride at stake and I am sure there are players there with contracts and careers to maintain. So we know it is not going to be easy."
There is also a final day shoot-out at Victoria Road where
Dagenham & Redbridge know if they avoid defeat to closest rivals Shrewsbury then the final play-off position is theirs.
