Two years ago Greg Blundell was playing non-league football, but after signing for Doncaster it has been success all the way. Blundell is hoping that success comes in threes as Doncaster chase their third promotion on the trot. Givemefootball's Lawrie Madden caught up with the striker after his two goals helped Doncaster on their way to a 4-0 win against local rivals Barnsley this week.

Q: ANOTHER GOOD WIN WHICH EDGES YOU CLOSER TO THE PLAY-OFF ZONE?

A: It was a nice win and one that we needed if we are to mount a challenge for the play-offs. We are hoping to keep moving up quietly and not get too much attention.

Q: ARE THE PLAY-OFFS A REALISTIC TARGET?

A: Well, you need something to play for although realistically we know that there are only maybe one or two places up for grabs. But We play all the teams around us between now and the end of the season so it's in our own hands.

Q: IT SEEMS THAT YOU HAVE COME FROM NOWHERE IN RECENT WEEKS?

A: A couple of weeks ago things changed. We beat Hull, got a couple of results and the belief in the side changed whereby we all believe that we can possible achieve something. If we can keep playing the way we can then we have a good chance.

Q: WHERE HAS THAT NEW 'BELIEF' COME FROM?

A: I wish I could put my finger on it. Everyone talks about consistency. In the first half of the season we would dominate games, especially away from home, but lose by the odd goal. I think the second half of the season has meant that we have seen everyone and we don't fear anyone. When we came up we were a little bit concerned about what would happen but we now feel we can give anyone a game. No-one has dominated us.

Q: CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW YOUR CAREER HAS PROGRESSED IN RECENT YEARS?

A: Two years ago I was playing for Northwich Victoria and then I joined Doncaster which was a club on the up. So much has happened - two promotions - that at times you have to try and step back and take a deep breathe as to how far I have come and the team as well.

Q: WHAT'S THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS DIVISION AND LEAGUE TWO?

A: It's all about the strikers. In this division they don't need as many chances to score. Last year you would get away with a bit of dodgy defending but not this year.

Q: WHAT WAS THE AIM AT THE START OF THE SEASON?

A: To get to 50 points. We reached that against Barnsley so we are safe, and that is an achievement in itself, but now the aim is the play-offs as we are not a million miles off.

Q: HAVE YOU WORKED OUT THE POINTS TARGET YOU NEED TO ACHIEVE THAT AIM?

A: No, not yet but I bet Michael McIndoe has. He works out everything, like what we are allowed to concede and what we need to go up so I'm sure he will tell us.

Q: PEOPLE SAY YOU CAN'T PLAY YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS DIVISION. DO YOU AGREE?

A: No, you CAN play football to get promotion from this division. We showed that against Barnsley when we played some great football. Some teams push up and deny space and try to close you down and sometimes away from home that can be hard because you have to clear your lines, but you can play football.
