Hans Backe's decision to resign as Notts County manager did not come as a surprise to Sven-Goran Eriksson`s right-hand man Tord Grip.
Backe quit the Coca-Cola League Two club just seven weeks after signing a three-year contract at Meadow Lane. Like Sol Campbell before him, one of Backe's reasons for walking out was the club's alleged failure to keep financial promises.
Grip, the long-time assistant to County's director of football Eriksson, told the Swedish football website Fotbollskanalen: "I'm not surprised about Hans leaving. He is disappointed he did not get the things he was promised."
He added: "The aim was the Premier League when Munto Finance was involved but that did not happen. There are enormous sums needed to fulfil the project that was promised, but it is not a dead-end yet. It could be that there is more money coming into the club.
"We should know more by the end of the year. Peter Trembling is confident that he will get new money into the club."
