Aston Villa have confirmed young midfielder Jonathan Hogg has joined Darlington on loan.

The tough-tackling 20-year-old will join up with former Villa defender Staunton at the Darlington Arena initially until January 2.

Newcastle-born Hogg, yet to appear for Martin O'Neill's first team, was the leading goalscorer in Villa's reserves last season after spending 11 months on the sidelines with cruciate ligament damage.
