Shrewsbury have rejected an offer from Colchester for striker Grant Holt and hope to sign two goalkeepers by the end of the month, manager Paul Simpson confirmed.

Holt will be remaining at the Shrews due to the club's financial security, while Simpson is on the verge of signing an experienced and younger goalkeeper.

Simpson told the official website: "Grant Holt is not for sale and will be staying at this football club as we are very fortunate to be in the position where financially we don't have to sell."

He continued: "I'm currently in discussions with two goalkeepers, one a senior player and the other a younger keeper, I am hopeful to have them in place by the July 1."
