Mark Hughes has signed a new one-year contract with Barnet.

The 25-year-old midfielder moved to Underhill from Chester on a short-term deal in February and despite struggling with injury made 10 appearances for the Bees as an emergency right-back.

The Northern Ireland international has now agreed a more permanent switch to the club and becomes Ian Hendon's first signing of the close-season.

Hendon is also waiting to hear whether Neal Bishop and Paul Furlong will accept contract offers, with the former expected to move from Southend at the end of June.
