Last season´s Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven clinched their place in the last 16 of this year´s competition with victories in their final group game on Wednesday. They and German side Schalke were battling it out for the two qualifying places from Group E.A trademark Andrea Pirlo free-kick put Milan in front at home to Schalke in the 42nd minute but the German side soon brought themselves back into contention when Christian Poulsen equalised. Milan regained the lead with a double from Brazilian star Kaka, and a reply from compatriot Lincoln was not enough for Schalke, who have to settle for a place in the UEFA Cup.
