Macclesfield Town boss Keith Alexander has pulled off a coup by landing former Grimsby midfielder Paul Bolland.

The 29-year-old has agreed to sign for the Silkmen and is delighted to spend next season at Moss Rose.

“I’d been at Grimsby for four years, which is a long time at a club nowadays, and really wanted a fresh challenge,” Bolland told www.mtfc.co.uk

“Mike Newell came in half way through last season and I was injured and he hadn’t really seen much of me. He wanted me to stay on so he could have a look at me but in the end I decided that I was going to move on.

“I had some good times there and wish them all the best but I’m 29 now and want to get on with the next chapter.

“By all accounts there are a few new faces coming in so hopefully we’ll all gel quickly. Hopefully we’ll get a good atmosphere in the dressing room as everyone gets to know each other. I’ve not played with any of the side before but I know a lot of them from playing against them.

“There are a lot of new lads around so it will be the same for everyone and a couple of days in the banter will start flying around. We want to get off to a good start because it builds confidence and sets you up for the rest of the campaign.

“There are some tough teams in the division this season so it will be a difficult league. But we have nothing to lose and I’m sure with the right new signings we can have a successful season.”
