Although Yeovil's FA Cup adventure is over for another year the Glovers can take great credit for their spirited display in Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of mighty Liverpool. One player who certainly won't forget that special day in a hurry is young striker Kevin Gall. After being released by Bristol Rovers, just over a year ago, the Welsh Under 21 international has successfully rebuilt his career at Huish Park and developed into the club's first choice frontman. Despite their cup exit, Yeovil won many new friends with their battling performance and the Somerset club now turn their attentions to what they hope will be a push for Third Division promotion. Givemefotball's Mark Shail is the man armed with the questions.
Q:DESPITE THE RESULT IT MUST HAVE BEEN A GREAT EXPERIENCE PLAYING AGAINST LIVERPOOL?
A:We have all learned such a lot from this one game. Playing against a Premiership team is so much different from the Third Division, and we know what we have to do if we want to improve as individuals and as a team.
Q:THINGS WENT REALLY WELL FOR YOU IN THE FIRST HALF, DID YOU THINK YEOVIL HAD A CHANCE OF WINNING THE MATCH AT THE INTERVAL?
A:I thought we were in with a shout because we had done a good job in keeping them quiet, but Emile Heskey is a class act and it is difficult when a player of his ability comes on as a substitute.
Q:DID HIS INTRODUCTION CHANGE THE GAME?
A:He's an England international and you expect special things from him. He took his goal really well - it was such a cool finish. His coming on was definitely the turning point. I thought he would play just behind the main striker and drift into wide positions but he went in behind our defenders and that was where the damage was done.
Q:WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PLAYING AGAINST A PREMIERSHIP SIDE COMPARED TO A TEAM IN THE THIRD DIVISION?
A:Normally, when I run to put a defender under pressure, they will launch the ball up the field and give us a chance of regaining possession, but Liverpool had the confidence and ability to keep the ball. There was a 20-minute spell in the second half when we just couldn't get the ball off them. The manager was bit disappointed with our ball retention in the second half but we gave it our best shot.
Q:IS IT FAIR TO SAY THAT THEIR CLASS TOLD IN THE END?
A:Yes, their passing and movement was exceptional and we were getting tired just trying to keep up with them. They retain the ball so well, and because we gave it away so much in the second half they were given a lift and our heads went down a little. You can't expect to keep giving the ball back to sides like Liverpool and not get punished.
Q:YOU CAN TAKE A LOT OF POSITIVES INTO YOUR REMAINING LEAGUE MATCHES THOUGH?
A:Most definitely, we can take a lot from this game and the cup run we have had. If we can carry our first half performance into the league games to come, we will have a great chance of winning promotion.
Q:YOU MUST HAVE BEEN DELIGHTED TO EXCHANGE SHIRTS WITH SAMMY HYYPIA AT THE END OF THE GAME?
A:I was, but the players have agreed to put all the shirts into a draw to see which one you get. They thought that was the most democratic way of doing things, so I'll have to wait which one I will end up with.
