John Brayford admitted it was up to Crewe Alexandra’s players to win the supporters back after an opening day defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge saw them jeered off.
The 21-year-old right back witnessed fierce protests from
Alex supporters unhappy with their side’s display, and he insists the fans had every right to sound off.
“The fans vented their frustrations,”
Brayford told the Crewe Chronicle.
“It wasn’t nice but they are entitled to do it. They pay their money and if I was a supporter watching how we performed on Saturday I wouldn’t be happy either.
“It’s their opinion. They expect to see some good football on a Saturday.
“It is up to us to do the business. A win will boost confidence and get the crowd back behind us after the defeat to
Dagenham. It is up to us to make them happy and get them behind us.
“We have to go in to games concentrating on ourselves and not worrying about the opposition.”
Chesterfield
John Sheridan lamented his side’s defending after
Chesterfield crashed out of the Carling Cup.
The Spirerites lost 2-1 at
Scunthorpe and despite a difference of two divisions, Sheridan was still unhappy with the outcome.
He told The Star: "I'm very disappointed but we played a very good footballing, Championship side and I thought we did very well.
"What I'm pleased about is the manner we tried to get back into the game. We had a right go.
"It's just the manner of the goals we're conceding that worries me. We've been done by a ball after we've had a corner cleared off the line and they've scored after a 60 yard ball out of defence. You could see what was coming but we didn't deal with it."
