Chesterfield striker Jack Lester missed a late penalty as his side slipped to a 2-1 defeat at struggling Lincoln.
First-half goals from Cian Hughton and Delroy Facey put the Imps in charge before Scott Bowden pulled one back for the visitors late on.
Lester then blazed his 87th-minute spot-kick over the bar as Lincoln held on for a first win in 10 games.
Hughton, the son of Newcastle boss Chris, opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he met Facey's cross with a fine header at the far post.
Lincoln doubled their lead just four minutes later when Facey looped another header over the stranded Crossley.
Lester was unlucky to see a headed effort of his own come back off the Lincoln bar a minute before half-time, while Facey went close again with a curling effort from 25 yards which looked to have Crossley beaten.
Chesterfield dominated possession after half-time and got the goal their pressure deserved when substitute Bowden smashed home a right-footed shot with seven minutes remaining.
The visitors were given a chance to rescue a point when Lincoln defender Adam Watts brought down Drew Talbot, but Lester was unable to hold his nerve from 12 yards.
