Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander will check on the fitness of Colin Daniel and Ricky Sappleton ahead of the home clash with Morecambe.

Both players sustained calf strains during Saturday's goalless draw at Port Vale and were substituted.

They were replaced by Craig Linfield and Ben Wright respectively, and Alexander could hand the pair starting roles should Daniel and Sappleton fail fitness tests.

The Silkmen will again be without midfield duo Ross Draper and Hamza Bencherif.

Draper is nursing a hernia problem and Bencherif suffered a fractured ankle in the 3-0 defeat at Rochdale on December 5.

Alexander is expecting a tough test against the Shrimps, saying: "They're a strong team who put a lot of balls into the box and we're going to have to be ready for them."

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy is boosted by the return of striker Garry Hunter and defender Laurence Wilson.

The pair served one-match bans during Saturday's 2-1 home win over Barnet after picking up five bookings but now come back into contention.

Striker Paul Mullin is still ruled out with a knee injury but McIlroy has no other major concerns as the Shrimps seek to build on Saturday's success.

After three weeks without a league game because of the big freeze, the Shrimps took the points with a late goal from winger Mark Duffy and now lie just outside the play-off places.

Duffy said: "It was great to get us back on track and the lads showed character."
