Executive chairman Peter Trembling has revealed that Notts County are investigating "a number of financial anomalies" at the club which have come to light since Munto Finance took over at Meadow Lane.
The ambitious League Two club paid off a debt to HM Revenue and Customs last week and Trembling revealed that further financial issues were being investigated by the new regime.
"Our supporters will be aware of an outstanding sum of money with HMRC, which was resolved last week," Trembling told the club's official website.
"In dealing with this matter and as a result of further and ongoing due diligence, we have uncovered a number of financial anomalies that are being investigated.
"In an ideal world, a longer period of due diligence would have been entered into before the acquisition of the club. However, the circumstances of the club and the start of the football season dictated that the purchase had to be completed in a much shorter timeframe in order to protect the long-term interests of the club."
Trembling also revealed that Glen Rolley is to step down as club secretary, with a Nottingham Law firm taking over the role.
