Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has been named Coca-Cola League Two manager of the month for February.

The Shrimps did not lose a game in February as they extended their unbeaten run to eight games despite only having 15 players fit and available for selection.

McIlroy told the club's official website: "It's always a great honour for the club to get an award like this.

"The players and Mark Lillis (assistant manager) deserve a huge amount of credit for the work they have put in.

"We have had a tough time with injuries but the players have shown terrific spirit and determination.

"I'm very proud of everything they have done for the club in the past few weeks and we want to make sure we maintain the same level of performance until the end of the season."
