I could get someone in this week...

Notts County boss Ian McParland is hopeful of signing a player on an emergency loan deal ahead of the visit of Barnet on Saturday.

McParland, who is known to be in the market for a striker after allowing Spencer Weir-Daley to leave the club last month, did not reveal any details about the potential deal but hopes to have the player at Meadow Lane before Saturday.

"I could get someone in this week. I have targeted a player and hopefully I might be able to get him, but I can't promise anything," said the Scot.

McParland also refused to rule out any more new arrivals, but stressed that he will not be spending money unnecessarily.

"I am keen to do business and if I think we need the players I will do all I can to get them," he added. "But anyone who does come in must be right for the dressing room and the way we play. One thing I won't do is bring players in just for the sake of it and overload the squad."

Meanwhile, the Magpies' home game against Gillingham, which was postponed last Tuesday because of snow, has been rearranged for March 17.
