Mike Williamson has been a rock at the heart of Wycombe's defence this season and that has been recognised by supporters who have chosen him as the League Two PFA 2UP Fans' Player of the Month for October. The former Torquay and Southampton stopper has been one of the pivotal reasons why Wycombe have only conceded six goals in 14 games this season. Throw into the melting pot the statistic that they are still the only unbeaten team left in all four divisions and it is easy to see why Williamson has caught the eye. He has also notched three goals as the Chairboys try to avoid being the bridesmaids once again and finally clinch promotion.

Peter Taylor is the man charged with bringing League One football to Adams Park and Williamson is thriving under the former England manager as Ian Clarkson discovered in another givemefootball.com exclusive interview.

ARE YOU PLEASED TO BE VOTED AS PFA 2UP FANS PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER?

I am absolutely delighted and it is a real surprise as I didn't expect it. I had heard of the award before as I can remember one of the lads winning it a couple of years ago but I certainly didn't expect to win. It is nice to know that the supporters appreciate what you are doing and I am very pleased to be nominated for the award this month.

IT HAS BEEN A GOOD START FOR WYCOMBE THIS SEASON HASN'T?

It has been a great season both personally and for the team and confidence is extremely high. We are still the only unbeaten team in the country after 14 league games and on course. We want to keep that unbeaten record going as long as we can but one thing we would like to do is to start turning a lot of those draws into wins. We are still not picking up three points in games as often as we would like.

IT LOOKS AS THOUGH YOU HAVE MANAGED TO NOTCH A FEW GOALS AS WELL THIS SEASON?

I had a good spell where I scored three goals but that goalscoring run seems to have dried up now! However, if I can chip in over the season with a few goals then I will be more than happy.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS AT ADAMS PARK THIS SEASON?

We lost in the play-offs last season and we need to go one better this time around. The expectation is for promotion and it has been like that for the last four or five seasons since I have been here. We would like to go up automatically but I don't think anyone would mind if it was through the play-offs as long as we were playing in League One next season. It would have to be classed as a disappointment if we didn't go up.

HOW HAVE YOU FOUND THE EXPERIENCE OF WORKING WITH PETER TAYLOR?

The gaffer is a hands on coach and a good guy. He is extremely meticulous on the training ground and we do a lot of work on set-pieces, which has paid off this season. He is also a good motivator of players and has a good backroom team behind with the likes of Junior Lewis, so it is all working well at present.

YOU HAVE GOT A TRICKY LOOKING FA CUP FIRST ROUND TIE ON MONDAY WITH A TRIP TO AFC WIMBLEDON HAVEN'T YOU?

It is a game that is being shown live on Setanta and we know it is going to be a tough tie despite the fact that there are two divisions difference between the teams. That is what the gaffer has been trying to drill into us all week as he has had them watched and he has said that they are flying high in their division (Blue Square Premier South) and are an extremely good footballing side. They will really be up for it as well as it is live on television so we have to make sure we are up for it too and get the result that we want.
