Gloucestershire Police have revealed no action will be taken against Martin Allen over the alleged nightclub incident which has resulted in him being put on gardening leave by Cheltenham.

Allen was suspended by the League Two club last month after allegations emerged that he racially abused a nightclub bouncer, something he himself vehemently denies.

Cheltenham have, as of Monday afternoon, yet to come to a decision over Allen's future at the club and insist no announcement will be made until their own investigation is complete. But Gloucestershire Police have now ended their interest in the case.

A statement read: "There will be no further police action following recent media reports of an incident at a nightclub in Cheltenham.

"Police have thoroughly investigated this alleged incident, which happened in September, and have spoken to a number of witnesses. Officers also formally interviewed the alleged offender on Friday, November 6.

"The alleged victim made no formal complaint and the decision has now been made to take no further action."
