Dave Penney has resigned as manager of Darlington after two-and-a-half years with the League Two outfit.

The 44-year-old, who is expected to become the new Oldham manager, guided the Quakers to play-off semi-finals last season and has coped admirably with a 10-point deduction in the current campaign.

Penney still had two years left on his Darlington contract but Oldham will not have to pay any compensation if they do take him on due to the Quakers currently being in administration.
