Chesterfield defender Phil Picken wants to turn his loan spell at Notts County into a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old, who is set to remain at Meadow Lane until the end of the season, still has 15 months remaining on his deal with the Spireites.

"I hope I am here next season but I don't know what's happening at the moment," Picken told the Evening Post. "There are quite a few of the lads (at Chesterfield) out of contract at the end of the season and they don't know what's going on either."

He added: "Hopefully I have earned myself a contract. I haven't spoken to Chesterfield about it but I want to get my future sorted out. It's not too bad because I have got another year there. But it would be nice to sort out where I am going to be playing next year.

"I want to stay here because I think the club has a serious chance of making the play-offs next season."
