Promotion-chasing Gillingham swept aside out-of-form Lincoln 4-0 to extend their unbeaten League Two run to 15 games.

Lincoln threatened early on and were denied after five minutes when Gills goalkeeper Alan Julian made a point-blank save to keep out an effort from Luke Howell.

But Gillingham took the lead after 20 minutes and never looked back.

The opener came when centre-back Josh Gowling was left unmarked at a corner and headed home.

Lincoln's young goalkeeper Elliott Parish made two excellent saves, but he was beaten again in the 41st minute when Cody McDonald headed into the top corner for his 23rd goal of the season.

Lincoln, who have now lost five in a row, cracked again in the 59th minute when a series of defensive errors let in McDonald, whose shot was deflected into his own net by Danny Hone.

Lincoln descended into disarray, and were ripped open again in the 69th minute when Andy Barcham crossed for Adebayo Akinfenwa to head in.
