Gillingham goalkeeper Simon Royce is hoping to earn a new deal at Priestfield and prolong his career.

The 37-year-old has helped the Gills to the Wembley play-off final against Shrewsbury, and will play at the national stadium for the first time in his career a week on Saturday. His contract is up at the end of the season and hopes to stay with the club.

"I have not been offered anything yet," he said. "I would love to stay here, I have made that clear to the manager but obviously finances dictate whether it be here or somewhere else."

He added: "I want to carry on playing, but if I don`t get offered a contract, my last game will be at Wembley, so how bad is that?"
