Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock has told three players their contracts won’t be renewed next season as he revamps his playing squad.
Talking to 'The Shots Online' he said: "I can confirm that
Rhys Day,
Rob Elvins and
Junior Mendes will not be having their contracts renewed for next season.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all three players for their efforts at
Aldershot Town Football Club and for the contribution that they made last season as the club gained promotion to the Football League after winning the Blue Square Premier title and the Setanta Shield. It was a tremendous achievement.
"On behalf of Aldershot Town Football Club I wish all three players the very best for the future and wish them well."
Still in League Two and Accrington chief executive Robert Heys is confident the proposed takeover of the League Two club will still go ahead.
Businessmen Dave O'Neill is the lead candidate for the takeover at the Fraser Eagle Stadium but some recent negative publicity had put a delay on proceedings.
The FA revealed earlier this month that five players - including four past and present from
Accrington - were charged for placing bets on Stanley to lose against Bury last season.
But Heys said: "It's still ongoing and there is no reason why it shouldn't go through but because of one or two unwanted interruptions, like the betting scandal, it has taken a back seat.
"But it should be sorted before the end of the season."
