John Sheridan felt his Chesterfield side deserved their first away win of the season on the basis of their first-half dominance at Bournemouth.

The Spireites ended the league leaders perfect home record with a 2-1 victory. Drew Talbot scored twice as Chesterfield withstood a fierce second-half onslaught to hold on for victory.

Sheridan said: "We won the game with our first half performance, but we should have gone in at the break three or four goals ahead."

He added: "We got a little bit of luck when Bournemouth came back at us, as I knew they would, but we showed great character and self-belief.

"It is very pleasing to beat the top-of-the-table team, and at last we are getting our rewards for some good performances.

"I want the team to think they are as good as any other in the league, but we have to be consistent. Bournemouth are a hard team to play against, so this was a good win."
