Shrewsbury have signed defender Joe Jacobson on a two-year deal after he turned down a contract offer at Accrington.

Cardiff-born Jacobson began his career at his hometown club and has also had spells at Bristol Rovers, Oldham and Accrington, making over 100 first-team appearances to date.

"We're delighted, he will help improve our squad," Shrews manager Graham Turner told the club's official website.

"He's 24 but has a lot of experience having played a good number of games in the Football League.

"He has an excellent left foot and is also good at going forward.

"He's a player we've watched closely and worked hard over the summer to bring him to Shrewsbury Town."
