Port Vale boss Micky Adams is allowing six players to leave the cash-strapped club in order to free up funds to help strengthen his squad.

Luke Prosser, Danny Edwards, Steve Thompson, David Howland and Danny Glover have all been made available for loan or permanent transfer, while Ross Davidson has already tied up a loan move to Stafford Rangers starting this Saturday.

Adams said: "I want to free up some funds to bring in some of my own players.

"I think the squad is lacking in certain areas and I don't want to sound disrespectful to the players we have here, but I have given everybody a go in pre-season and these players, at this moment in time, are surplus to requirements."
