Wigan midfielder Lewis Montrose will join Chesterfield this summer.
The 20-year-old, who has been on loan for the last three months, has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Spireites on a two-year deal when he becomes a free agent during the close season.
The midfielder said: "I am delighted to be joining Chesterfield on a long-term basis as I have really enjoyed being with the club on loan and everyone has made me so welcome."
He added: "I am looking forward to progressing my career with the Spireites and want to play my part in seeing us get promoted next season."
The midfielder is back in training following a knee injury and is expected to be included in the squad for the Spireites last home game of the seasons against Bradford.
