Exeter boss Paul Tisdale believes his side could have claimed all three points after twice coming from behind to claim a 2-2 draw at Rochdale.
A brace from veteran Grecians' striker Marcus Stewart cancelled out Lee Thorpe's opener and substitute Adam Le Fondre's late penalty.
"It was a brilliant game and could have gone either way - with five seconds to go we went close with Craig McAllister's header," said Tisdale.
He added: "I think it's probably natural to look at the things we did wrong and say 'if only'. But that would be to deny what was a very good Exeter performance.
"In the second half we had the impetus and we controlled the game but when we had that momentum I wasn't pleased with the way we gave away the penalty. There were times when we had opportunities we didn't make the most of them, but of course I'm looking for perfection.
"To score that penalty just after they had scored was brilliant. I'm sure they are left wondering how they have given a penalty away having just taken the lead but I felt we deserved a point at least."
