Gillingham manager Mark Stimson hailed the contribution of substitute Andy Barcham after his side claimed a last-gasp win over Darlington.
The Gills made it six without defeat and climbed up to fifth in the table as Simeon Jackson slotted home a stoppage-time penalty after Alan White's handball.
"Darlington are a good side and they were bang on it, we knew it would be a test and fair play to the players they started fantastically," said Stimson. "We said to them treat the game as if we're losing 1-0 in the cup final but just didn't get a break. We introduced Andy Barcham and he livened things up and we eventually got the penalty."
He added: "It was an excellent strike from Jackson. He showed his composure to slot home, he's a natural finisher and put it away nicely."
