Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander admits he is unlikely to have the cash available to spend on a loan striker.
Town were left to rue a host of missed chances as they went down to a controversial penalty against Lincoln on Saturday, but Alexander will have to stick with his misfiring frontmen.
"Our financial situation does not really allow for that," he told the club's official website.
"But that is not to say we haven't stopped looking. So you never know.
"But you have to remember that if strikers are doing their job they'd probably be playing every week for their own side. So if we are able to bring someone in, they have to better than the ones we currently have at the club."
