Andy Bishop came off the bench to snatch third-placed Bury a 2-1 home win against Macclesfield.
Richard Butcher gave the visitors a 26th-minute lead, only for Ryan Lowe to equalise with a penalty just three minutes later.
And Bishop secured a sixth straight win for the Shakers as the fit-again striker claimed his first goal of the season 11 minutes from time.
Lowe blazed over from an early Andy Morrell cross before the lowly Silkmen broke the deadlock.
Lee Bell's free-kick found Sean Hessey at the far post and his shot was deflected in off team-mate Butcher.
But Bury were soon back on level terms as Colin Daniel was deemed to have bundled over Stephen Dawson in the penalty area and Lowe tucked the spot-kick inside the left-hand post for his 12th goal of the season.
Bell forced Wayne Brown to turn a close-range strike wide but the hosts then got on top, with David Worrall firing narrowly wide.
Lowe and Mike Jones then combined and Izak Reid did well to clear behind from Jones' low cross.
Lowe fired into the side-netting just after the break while Worrall had a 20-yard effort deflected over.
Daniel shot over in reply, but Dawson then squared for substitute Bishop to tap in the winner.
