Steve Thornber revealed he has taken charge of his last Rotherham match after watching the Millers draw 1-1 at Cheltenham.

The Robins' Julian Alsop cancelled out Adam Le Fondre's strike in first-half injury-time as Rotherham were held to a second consecutive draw.

Two of the eight candidates vying to replace Mark Robins were at Whaddon Road in the shape of former Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton and former Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill.

"There are interviews this week, and I would have thought there will be a new manager in place in time for the Barnet game next week, so the appointment will probably be on Thursday or Friday," said the youth-team manager.

"The new manager might have watched the games recently, but I think the handover is going to be crucial.

"It's disappointing to have dropped points in these two games, but hopefully the new man can kick on and get things going, and we will definitely be up there at the end of the season."
