Andy Haworth, 22, looks set to go straight into Oxford United’s squad to face Barnet on Saturday after agreeing a one-month emergency loan deal.

The U’s are without a host of first-team players after being blighted with injuries. Defender Tony Capaldi has a back problem and front-man Tony Craddock remains sidelined with a knee injury.

On-loan Jonathan Franks has returned to parent club Middlesborough with a dislocated shoulder, which could keep him out for 12 weeks.

Haworth, who helped Bury win promotion to Npower League One last season, is looking forward to making an immediate impact at the Kassam Stadium.

“I’m really looking forward to my time with Oxford United,” he said at the training ground today.

“I hope to be involved tomorrow and play my part. The club has fantastic facilities and a good reputation and I hope to be setting up some goals and getting on the score sheet.”

The eager winger made 45 appearances for Bury last season and scored three times: goals that United’s manager Chris Wilder would welcome now that striker Lewis Guy has left after the culmination of his loan spell.
