Southampton striker Jamie White will remain at Shrewsbury for a second month after the League Two outfit agreed a loan extension with the Saints.

Talks have been ongoing between the two sides over the last week with a view to extending the young forward's stay at the Prostar Stadium after an impressive initial month-long stint.

And the paperwork was finally completed on Monday morning leaving the 19-year-old, who has netted once for the Shrews, free to aid their promotion charge over the festive period.

Town boss Paul Simpson told the Shrewsbury website: "We've been speaking over the last week and Southampton are happy for Jamie to stay with us for another month.

"He has done well and I'm hoping that over the next month we will see even more from him. He's looked a real threat for us when he's played up front and he can also play out wide which gives us a different option.

"He wants to learn and improve and is well thought of at Southampton and if he carries on like this then I'm sure they will want him back to go into their first team."
