Grimsby caretaker boss Neil Woods boosted his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis after a much improved performance saw Town grab a point with a 0-0 draw at neighbours Lincoln City.

The Mariners had the upper hand for much of the game but were forced to survive heavy Lincoln pressure in the final 10 minutes.

Grimsby are due to announce their new manager on Monday with Woods one of six interviewed for the post. He said: ``I don't think the last two games have done anything to hinder my chances of getting the job. Now we will just have to see what happens."

Woods added: ``The players worked really hard. It was an improvement.

``We're down at the bottom of the league for a reason and it was never going to be turned around very quickly but the players have worked really hard for me and I can't ask for anymore than that.''
