Tamworth full back Rob Warner has been waiting for almost two decades to take revenge on his older brother Micky - now playing for Stevenage - after spending his younger years avoiding pot-shots in the back garden.
And now he is a man on a mission as the two sides meet tonight in a crunch Conference clash at the Lamb where Rob, who is homing in on 300 appearances for Tamworth, will be hoping to win his place back after being axed for only the second time in his career ten days ago.
Somehow he has managed to avoid his brother during a career that has taken in Hereford United and Tamworth while Micky has starred for Redditch United, Northampton Town, Farnborough and Stevenage.
Injuries, suspensions and loss of form has meant that the closest they ever got to crossing swords was a Third Division game between Hereford and Northampton in December 1997, when Rob appeared for the Bulls, but Mickey stayed on the bench for the Cobblers.
However, Micky is surprised that Rob ended up as a right back because he was more often than not dumped between the sticks as a youngster on the back lawn at home. He said: "All three brothers used to have massive scraps when we were younger and Rob always used to end up in goal. Jez, our elder brother and I used to belt balls past him all the time - I am surprised he hasn't turned out to be a top keeper!
"We haven't played against each other for donkey's years and the last time was when I was 13. It was a match in Henley-in-Arden - Jez and I played for the Henley Sports & Social club, while Rob and my dad, Robin played for the Golden Cross pub team.
"My old man scored the winner with a screamer and I haven't played against Rob since - but I've always wanted to get my own back so I'm really looking forward to playing against him at Tamworth."
The stage is set for a battle royal and 26-year-old Rob, with youth on his side, is in no doubt as to who will come out on top. He said: "Mick is 29 now and getting on a bit so I am sure he has lost a yard of pace. I would love him to play on the left hand side as I am sure I could breeze past him!"
Warner Snr, not surprisingly, takes a contrary stance to his younger sibling and claims his extra trickery will pay dividends. He quipped. "Since Rob started his job in Birmingham I am sure has put a bit of timber on! I can't wait for the game as we always have a bet at the start of each season as to who will finish higher in their respective leagues and who will be top scorer.
"It is £20 for each and if I am honest, Rob has usually won the goalscoring wager so I need us to finish above Tamworth and a win will definitely help."
The two brothers are best of friends off the pitch but will be deadly rivals on it according to Rob. "I am sure it will be like paying against one of your close friends," he said. "It will be very competitive and I can't see there being any banter throughout the game as we want to win and I want bragging rights afterwards.
"It will make up for all the times he used to kick me when I was younger! However, I am sure we will all meet up for a family meal afterwards and it will be a celebration whatever the score because Micky and his wife Jonna have just had their first baby son, Benjamin."
Rob has ruled out the possibility of a managerial dream team in the future saying: "I will leave it to those who know more about the game than me."
But Micky can see a golden future for the pair. "I can see a time in the future where we form a right hand side combination," he said. "We will be playing for The Golden Cross in Henley-in-Arden in about ten years' time!"
