Lennon’s renaissance under Harry Redknapp has been noted by England legend David Beckham who praised the Tottenham winger’s performance in last weekend’s 4-0 friendly international win over Slovakia.

"I thought Aaron did very well and went past players like they weren't there and the form he is in has been exceptional and he deserved his start,” he said.

"Aaron is not just quick, he has improved on his crossing and the way he gets to the byline and he got a couple of good crosses in.”

Lennon beat off tough competition from Arsenal’s Robin van Persie and Liverpool duo of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard before lifting the award.

Sheffield Wednesday players are making a habit of winning the award in the Championship and Marcus Tudgay has now won back-to-back awards after landing the coveted title for March with 21% of the fans vote.

The Owls are 13th in the table and won’t be troubling the play-offs this year but they have made good progress with Tudgay at the heart of their revival.

He has bagged 12 goals this season and held off the challenge of Watford’s Tamas Priskin and teammate Lee Grant as well as Swansea striker Jason Scotland to keep hold of his award.

Another regular winner is Leeds’ Jermaine Beckford and he romped to a clear win for the League One award with 41% of the fans votes.

Beckford has now reached 31 goals for the season as Leeds have cemented their play-off position and manager Simon Grayson has warned off any suitors regarding his availability in the summer.

"He is under contract to us and I am pleased he is our player," said Grayson. "To score 31 goals in a season is a real achievement at any level. When you have somebody who can finish chances like he does it is great.

“He is a fantastic talent. If he gets a consistent base to his game, he can go to the very top. He’s scored five in four games now and look at his total for the season.”

Peterborough’s Craig  Mackail-Smith was among the leading the pack followed by Beckford’s teammate Fabian Delph and Leyton Orient’s Stephen Purches.

Finally, Jordan Rhodes’ season is over for Brentford after picking up an injury last Saturday but the Ipswich striker can draw solace from being awarded the PFA Fans Player of the Month award for League Two with 44% of the fans votes.

Rhodes has bagged seven goals for the Bees since joining them on loan from the Championship side but a broken toe sustained against Chesterfield means he will be back at Portman Road for the rest of the campaign.

However, the striker has played a huge part in lifting the Bees to the top of the table and his goals ensured he lifted the crown ahead of Rochdale’s Adam Le Fondre, Bury’s Andy Bishop and Simeon Jackson of Gillingham.

Adam Le Fondre    Rochdale        League Two    30.35%
